Meet FERRA DEVKIT - a professional set of realistic foot dummies designed to help IMVU creators make their own 3D shoe models and upload them to their catalog using the derivation chain.
This file contains the following foot shapes: STILETTO S.
Each shape comes in two modifications: regular and fitted. Regular means loose toe placement, better suited for wide-toed shoes, while fitted means tight toe placement, ideal for narrow or closed-toed models.
The file is in the BLENDER format.
Each Blender file also includes a corresponding basic shoe mesh, which shows you how your model should be positioned and rigged in Blender, and thus ready to export for IMVU. I have also included 2 CHKN files for each shape (regular and fitted) to provide an in-client preview. Please note that these basic shoe models are not freebies, they are only for demonstration purposes and should not be edited or altered. You should not use them as a base mesh to create your own meshes, but you can upload them as they are, deriving from the corresponding shoe shape.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The usage of the following DEVKIT requires derivation from my ETAZIE shop (the derivation links are provided below). For each shape modification, you can choose between 3 different meshes: basic, any skin, and any skin with tattoo. Please note that you should not export the feet themselves - they are only provided as dummies to help you build your 3D model. You should export your shoe model separately and import them as an .FBX file under any 10+ body part ID. In other words, create your shoes, export your shoes, derive from the corresponding foot shape, and import your shoes as an add-on. Please note that you may choose any number up to 99 when importing on IMVU Classic or Studio, and you may change it later to a higher number (up to 999) via debug in the Classic client or Inspector in Studio.
RIGGING/EXPORT INSTRUCTIONS*
When your shoe model is complete, make sure you are in Object mode. Then, click on the model while holding the SHIFT key, and then click on either the left or right foot mesh. Go to Object -> Link/Transfer Data -> Copy Modifiers, or use the hot key CTRL+L -> Copy Modifiers. This will link your mesh to the appropriate armature (skeleton).
Next, transfer weights (vertex groups). To do this, click on the corresponding foot mesh, then click your shoe model. Go to Weight Paint mode and choose Weights -> Transfer Weights. In the bottom left corner, unscroll the Transfer Mesh Data menu and choose the appropriate settings.
I recommend copying both vertex groups (calves and feet) by selecting "by name" for source layer selection and then all layers for destination layers matching. For vertex mapping, use the default "Nearest Vertex" option. Please note that if your mesh contains both left and right shoe models (i.e., they don't come as separates but as a single mesh), you should also tick Only Neighbor Geometry and then adjust the proper distance (should be something around 50) to make sure your left shoe isn't skinned to the right foot and vice versa.
When you're finished rigging your shoe to the left/right foot, repeat the process for the other foot.
To export your rigged model, make sure you're in object mode. Then, select the rigged shoe and hold the SHIFT key. Click on the skeleton (you may click just on any bone, and the whole armature will be selected), and select "File" -> "Export" -> "FBX". Choose "Selected Objects", change the scale to 0.01, uncheck "Add Leaf Bones" in the "Armature" section, and finally, click "Export FBX".
You can leave the scale at 1.00 if you prefer, but you will need to change it back to 0.01 when importing the FBX into the IMVU editor or studio.
* This information is provided as additional guidance, as you are assumed to be a confident Blender user with the skills to rig and export at least an accessory model made for IMVU.
** The screenshots were taken using Blender 3.0.
